“3rd Annual Business Administration Conference: Sustainability in Business Management”

The conference titled "3rd Annual Business Administration Conference: Sustainability in Business Management" organized by the Department of Business Administration in cooperation with Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and sponsored by Siemens Turkey and DAAD took place on November 18, 2022 at Siemens Kartal Campus.


The opening session started with welcome speeches by Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, Rector of the Turkish-German University, Prof. Dr. Ferit Küçükay, General Coordinator of the Turkish-German University, Prof. Dr. Ela Sibel Bayrak Meydanoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at the Turkish-German University, and Prof. Dr. Rıza Öztürk, Dean of the Faculty of Business at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, and continued with a presentation by Hüseyin Gelis, Chairman and CEO of Siemens Turkey.
Prof. Dr. Jacob Hörisch from the Leuphana University of Lüneburg was connected via internet to give the last presentation of the opening session.

The first session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Müge Klein from the Department of Business Administration of the Turkish-German University and started with the presentation of Prof. Dr. Margareta Teodorescu from Koblenz University of Applied Sciences on "The Determinants of Purchase Intention for Environmentally Sustainable Apparel: An Extended Theory of Planned Behaviour Model". Professor Manuel Stegemann from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and PhD student Eliza Starke presented their joint work on examining value-based drivers for advertising effectiveness in communicating sustainability in the tourism sector, and then Dr. Hüdai Kara, Founding Director of Metsims Sustainability Consulting, was connected online to make his presentation.


In the second session of the conference, Siemens Turkey Sustainability and Business Development Manager Gülşah Öztürk made a presentation titled "Sustainability and Decarbonization”.
The third session, chaired by Prof. Dr. Vivian Carstensen from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, started with an online connection to Prof. Dr. Alessandra Vecchi from Ferrera University, Italy to present on green transition in the Italian fashion industry. The second presentation of the conference also continued online and Prof. Dr. Jeoung Yul Lee from Hongik University, South Korea presented his work titled "MNE Sustainability and Subsidiary Performance in Global Value Chain: The Moderating Role of Global Network and Host Country Sustainability Pressures". 




In the third presentation of the session, Dr. Hüseyin Doluca from Augsburg University presented "Corporate Reputation and Sustainability: An Empirical Analysis", while the session was ended with the presentation of Prof. Dr. Alexander Förster from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences on the sustainability of business information systems.
The fourth session of the conference started with presentations on education, chaired by Prof. Dr. Christiane Nitschke from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences. Following the presentation of Prof. Dr. Vivian Carstensen from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences on the role of education for social sustainability in Germany, Prof. Dr. Gerrit Hirschfeld from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences made a presentation on the preference of university graduates for sustainable organizations. The session was concluded with the presentations of Prof. Dr. Andreas Uphaus and Prof. Dr. Michaela Hoke from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences on "Sustainability Transparency of Supply Chains for Financial Products" and “Opportunities and Limitations of Product-Oriented Sustainability Measurement".
 The last session, chaired by Prof. Dr. Dilek Zamantılı Nayır from the Turkish-German University, included studies from different disciplines. Following Dr. Dorothee Wilm from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences who made a presentation on sustainable human resources, Raushan Aman, PhD student from Oulu University, presented "Interconnected Sustainability: Societal Impact of Female Migrant‘s Business". 
Abdulmuttalip Erduran and Kaan Altun from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences gave a presentation titled "The Enforceability of International Law", and the final presentation of the session was made by Prof. Dr. Kirsten Beckmann and Prof. Dr. Christiane Nitschke from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences.
Prof. Dr. Ela Sibel Bayrak Meydanoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at the Turkish-German University and Prof. Dr. Rıza Öztürk, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, concluded the conference by thanking everyone who contributed.
