Visit to the BSH Türkiye Production Facility within the Scope of the Operations Management Course
On May 7, 2026, students of the Business Administration program visited the production facility of BSH Hausgeräte in Çerkezköy/Tekirdağ as part of the Operations Management module. The excursion was organized by Thomas Hofmann in order to provide students with practical insights into the modern production and logistics processes of a globally leading industrial company.
The BSH Group manufactures innovative home appliances in a total of 39 production plants worldwide and distributes its products in more than 50 countries. The largest of these facilities is located in Çerkezköy, in the province of Tekirdağ. Covering an area of approximately 550,000 square meters, the plant has an annual production capacity of seven million appliances. In addition, BSH Türkiye develops and manufactures energy-efficient and innovative products of the brands Bosch, Siemens, Gaggenau, and Profilo at its own research and development center, exporting them to more than 150 countries.
During the factory tour, the participants gained valuable insights into goods receipt operations, the production of high-quality ovens, and exclusive refrigerators manufactured for the Arab and American markets. The highly automated manufacturing processes, quality control systems, and the efficient organization of the outbound logistics warehouse were particularly impressive.
The excursion not only enabled students to experience theoretical concepts from Operations Management directly in practice, but also provided valuable opportunities to establish connections with the corporate world. Through exchanges with employees and managers of BSH Türkiye, perspectives for working student positions, internships, and future bachelor’s theses were also discussed.
Thomas Hofmann emphasized the importance of such excursions for academic education: “Direct exposure to industrial processes creates a much deeper understanding of the challenges and success factors of modern manufacturing companies.”
The excursion was a highly enriching experience for all participants and clearly demonstrated the strong connection between theory and practice in the field of Operations Management.
